A New Tooth

I am slowly recovering today.  My last tooth implant is in.  Hooray!  Now I just have to heal up.  I came home from the oral surgery, crawled into bed, and pretty much did not move all day long.  Just slept and slept and slept.   I can bounce back from just about anything given enough time to sleep.  Kevin thinks I may be part bear or some other hibernating animal.   Today I feel kind of fuzzy and wobbly but I am awake.  Which is a step in the right direction!

Kevin had the kids all day yesterday and he survived.  I did, however, find this when I finally stumbled downstairs…..

Chocolate Bars Galore

Yup.  A giant pile of chocolate bars.  According to my children, they are going to have a blind chocolate taste test to decided which one they like best.  I’m thinking they may have seen one too many episodes of America’s Test Kitchen.  Kevin, of course, is 100% behind this plan.  He even printed out a taste test chart.  I turn my back for one day…….

Hamburger

Many many months ago, I checked out the book Wee Wonderfuls: 24 Dolls to Sew and Love by Hillary Lang from the library.  The dolls are absolutely adorable and there were a few I was itching to try.  While flipping through the pages, Kulia wandered by and peeked over so see what I was oohing and ahhing over.  Now, Kulia loves pigs and elephants.  I mean LOVES.  It is almost a compulsion with her.  So when she say a pattern for a sweet little stuffed elephant with a hidden pocket, her bitty heart just melted.  She wanted that ellie.  She wanted it now.  Unfortunately, I don’t do so great with now.  I’m more of an eventually type of gal but Kulia would not be put off.  Every time she saw me at my craft table, she’d ask if I was working on her ellie.  She just wouldn’t let me forget it.  So during Spring Break, I put the pedal to the metal and “someday” turned into “today”.   This was not an easy stuffed animal to make.  But from the loving it had been getting, it was well worth the effort and the wait!

Goldie and Rainbow Fish

3/11/2011 – 3/25/2011

Rest in peace Goldie and Rainbow.  I feel we barely knew you at all.  These last 15 days were something special.  If only our time together could have been longer.  Farewell my flipper-ed friend!  And Uncle Dan, your fish predicting skills are a bit freaky.  You have a gift my friend.  Use it well….

Another Tooth Gone

Leina's Turn to Lose A Tooth

The teeth are falling fast and furiously around here.  Leina was quite excited to get this one out after watching Kulia rake in the Tooth Fairy money.  She is already planning her trip to the Dollar Tree to spend her hard earned cash.  The poor Tooth Fairy is pretty broke and this point.  Hopefully things will slow down here but I must admit I love seeing their little gap toothed grins!

New Week; New Book

Yet another memoir type book.  Am I on a role or what?  This book, Everyday Matters by Danny Gregory, falls into one of my favorite categories.  The sketch journal.  I love these little peeks into someone’s daily epiphanies and adventures.  These are books to pick up and admire a bit at a time.  Filled with odd thoughts and simple sketches, these books inspire me to keep a simple, scribbled journal of my own full of awful sketches and favorite quotes.   Mr. Gregory’s journal is set in New York and is full of city sketches of utilitarian objects around him.  Not a trained artist but a determined sketcher, this is a sweet little book to pick up and thumb through to inspire your own creative thoughts.

And, to celebrate the start of Spring Break here in Sherwood, I give you a picture of J-Dog in all her glory.  Please note the shaved spot on her leg where she received her IV drip after deciding to eat a rope.  Yup.  A rope.  Don’t worry, after a nice long day at the vet, she emerged right as rain.  For a “free” dog, she sure is good at racking up a vet bill.
