{"id":995,"date":"2008-12-02T16:04:10","date_gmt":"2008-12-02T23:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/?p=995"},"modified":"2009-01-19T10:50:22","modified_gmt":"2009-01-19T17:50:22","slug":"thanksgiving-2008-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/?p=995","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving 2008 Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, did we ever have a great Thanksgiving. \u00a0The girls adored playing with their grandparents, we ate a fabulous smorgasbord meal, and even banged out some more on the kitchen project. \u00a0Wanna see?<\/p>\n<p>OK, to refresh your memory, this is where we last left the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/pictures\/final.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not bad, right? \u00a0For the most part, the upper cabinets were installed. \u00a0The lower units&#8230;.not so pretty. \u00a0The sink corner was still the original worn oak cabinets and we had slapped the old linoleum counter top back on leaving odd gaps and tipsy surfaces. \u00a0But it was workable. \u00a0In addition to the old cabinets, I still had that awful paint all over the walls. \u00a0Picture the sky on an overcast cold day. \u00a0Now paint that on your walls. \u00a0Because really, everyone who lives in the NW needs more reminders of dreary rain days, right? \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With a few days off, Papa and Kevin decided to tackled the next phase of the kitchen. \u00a0Install the final sink base cabinets and counter top. \u00a0This was an ordeal because it meant they had to removed my sink for a few days and I had to take everything out of the cabinets. \u00a0Chaos, chaos, chaos.<\/p>\n<p>First, the sink and old disgusting cabinets were removed leaving a very large and ominous hole.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/blankwall.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To make this space, everything had to be jammed all over the place. \u00a0This is where the chaos started. \u00a0What you see below is the dishwasher, kitchen table, displaced stuff and the kitchen sink sitting on saw horses. \u00a0Not so nice, right? \u00a0But do you see the new paint job? \u00a0Sunny yellow! \u00a0Yes!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/chaos.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The men worked quickly and professionally and after only a few days, order was restored. \u00a0Here, now is the first official reveal of the beautiful new counter tops. \u00a0Enjoy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/counters.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pretty, huh? \u00a0I was debating waiting on the counters and going spendy with granite but I decided to give these butcher block tops a try. \u00a0The price difference saved us, literally, thousands and Kevin &amp; my dad were able to install them in a day. \u00a0What a deal. \u00a0Now, when I enter my kitchen, instead of moldy and grey, I see sunny and beautiful. \u00a0I&#8217;m so so so happy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/finished.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>OK, there is still on thing missing. \u00a0Can you spot it? \u00a0The back-splash tile. \u00a0I need to find me a tile store pronto so I can put this kitchen to rest finally. \u00a0I&#8217;m thinking white with blue flowers or maybe a twining vine. \u00a0We&#8217;ll see. \u00a0 But seriously people, my kitchen rocks!<\/p>\n<p>Of course, while we were working in the kitchen, Tutu was off running interference with the girlies. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know what they were playing but I know they were having fun. \u00a0Can&#8217;t you tell?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/tutusilly.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"\/tutu1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, did we ever have a great Thanksgiving. \u00a0The girls adored playing with their grandparents, we ate a fabulous smorgasbord meal, and even banged out some more on the kitchen project. \u00a0Wanna see?
