{"id":963,"date":"2008-06-15T10:32:56","date_gmt":"2008-06-15T17:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/?p=963"},"modified":"2009-07-14T14:44:04","modified_gmt":"2009-07-14T21:44:04","slug":"ah-sunshine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/?p=963","title":{"rendered":"Ah, Sunshine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, all my griping must have payed off because the sun finally came out yesterday.\u00a0\u00a0 It was beautiful.\u00a0 Beautiful!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/sun.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Doesn&#8217;t even look like the same place, does it?\u00a0 Of course, as soon as we rubbed the sleep from our eyes we immediately put on our shoes and headed out doors.\u00a0 Artie lead the way.\u00a0 He hates rain almost as much as we do.\u00a0 The idea of lolling about on dry sunny grass was right up his alley!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/artieout.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since this has been the first time I&#8217;ve ventured forth into our backyard since, oh, September, I decided to take stock of the general situation.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t very good.\u00a0 Lets just say the weeds were taller than I was.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a picture of my garden plot.\u00a0 You won&#8217;t see much garden though.\u00a0 It was totally over run with spiky prickly weeds.\u00a0 Ick-o.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/weeds.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to use this as my &#8220;before&#8221; shot so I can look back at how far I&#8217;ve come once the garden gets planted properly!\u00a0 But don&#8217;t worry, all was not lost.\u00a0\u00a0 I found my clematis just starting to bloom&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/clematis.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My rose garden is full of promising buds&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/buds.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I found an early bloomer and named her Firebrand.\u00a0 (For obvious reasons!)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/firerose.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Most surprising were the wild roses that grow along the back gate.\u00a0 They have to fight for every gleam of sunshine but they seemed to be winning the battle with such grace.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/wildroses.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lovely, no?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/pinkrose.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The girls were exploring as well.\u00a0 Leina&#8217;s favorite past time is to collect flower bouquets.\u00a0 First, she picks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/leinapick.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then she sniffs&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/leinasmell.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And if the flowers meet her exacting standards, they are included and eventually given&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/leinagive.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kulia and Artie, however, decided to rest in the grass.\u00a0 Artie found his ginormous cow bone and Kulia decided to keep him company while he gnawed the afternoon away.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/artiebone.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was a simply wonderful spring day.\u00a0 (Except for the weeds.\u00a0 Grrr.)\u00a0 The forecasts predict the clouds will roll back in soon but for now, we&#8217;re just thankful for the little bit of spring weather and a chance to enjoy the green.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pictures\/arch.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, all my griping must have payed off because the sun finally came out yesterday.\u00a0\u00a0 It was beautiful.\u00a0 Beautiful!
