{"id":931,"date":"2008-04-04T00:31:35","date_gmt":"2008-04-04T07:31:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/?p=931"},"modified":"2009-07-11T11:56:44","modified_gmt":"2009-07-11T18:56:44","slug":"a-few-pictures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/?p=931","title":{"rendered":"A Few Pictures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, my parents are back in LA but they left behind them two very happy grandchildren and a beautiful kitchen.\u00a0 My dad noted how &#8220;lucky&#8221; it was that we just happened to have gotten our IKEA cabinetry delivered right before they came.\u00a0 Yeah, real &#8220;lucky&#8221; dad.\u00a0 No planning on our part at all.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 None.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyhoo, there were boxes of unassembled cabinets to be hung and my dad never could pass up a project waiting to go so he and Kevin began Phase II of the great kitchen remodel.\u00a0 As you may (or may not) recall, Kevin and I attempted Phase I and it wasn&#8217;t very pretty.\u00a0 It took a very very long time and involved many tense conversation about alignment and extra parts.\u00a0 Lets just say I was a little burned out on the whole process.\u00a0 But Elmo proved to have the fresh blood we needed to plow back into the mess.\u00a0 More importantly, it meant I could step back and let Kevin and my dad work together.\u00a0 This worked out very well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of course, I forgot to take a &#8220;before&#8221; picture but really, you aren&#8217;t missing much.\u00a0 Just picture generic oak cabinets, worn and very dingy.\u00a0 Then were promptly removed leaving a very large and empty wall.\u00a0 See Exhibit A.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/pictures\/before.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not so impressive, right?\u00a0 Well, demolition was the easy part people.\u00a0 It got much harder after that.\u00a0 There was hammering, aligning, squaring, lifting, grunting and all sort of labor like stuff going on.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a bit foggy on the details here because, well, I was out shopping.\u00a0 But I was here in spirit!\u00a0 Really!\u00a0 I can even prove it!\u00a0 See, here I am holding the entire microwave up with one hand while my dad and husband do other cabinetry stuff.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/pictures\/goingup.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was work I tell you, work!\u00a0 Ok, maybe there were a few screws helping me out there but I did help.\u00a0 Anyway, after they were all hung and the hardware attached and the microwave moved and the hinges damped and the sides installed and the molding leveled it looks something like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/pictures\/cabinets.micro.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That seriously rocks, no?\u00a0 I&#8217;m in love love love with them.\u00a0 They are so white and purty.\u00a0 I could sit at my kitchen table, sipping coffee, and stare at them for hours.\u00a0 Not that I do that or anything.\u00a0 &#8216;Cause that would be weird, right?\u00a0 As you can see, the base cabinets are a hodge podge right now.\u00a0 That&#8217;s Phase III.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still staring right now.\u00a0 Where was I?\u00a0 Oh yes, along with these cabinets, my dad also finished up the ones over by the fridge.\u00a0 I can stare at these beauties for hours as well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/pictures\/cabinets.fridge.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ok, ok, I did a bit of staging and arranged the magnets but can you blame me?\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 Lots of loving of the cabinets going on.\u00a0 To try and give you the feel for it all, here&#8217;s a pull back shot.\u00a0 I just realized this is before hardware but I think you get the picture.\u00a0 Go ahead, grab a cup of coffee and graze with wonder upon my new kitchen.\u00a0 I know I do!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrissierocks.org\/pictures\/final.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, my parents are back in LA but they left behind them two very happy grandchildren and a beautiful kitchen.\u00a0 My dad noted how &#8220;lucky&#8221;
