I\u2019ve reached a new level of staying homedom. I\u2019ve begun talking to my plants. The most interesting part is that I\u2019ve discovered I\u2019m harboring multiple personalities.<\/p>\n
For the kitties, I treat them like very small babies. They pretty much do what they want, when they want, and only pay attention to me when I have food. This seems very much what small babies do. Play in their own world until they want something from you and then they cry. My girls cry and climb in your lap and scratch your face until you wake up yelling \u201calright, I\u2019ll feed you already.\u201d I don\u2019t have a child but I think this might be somewhat similar.<\/p>\n
With Artie, I\u2019m drill sargent. \u201cGet out of the garbage.\u201d \u201cDon\u2019t eat that cat.\u201d \u201cStop biting the mailman.\u201d \u201cDon\u2019t jump.\u201d \u201cSit.\u201d \u201cStay.\u201d And rewards are strangely military too with a firm pat on the head and a loud \u201cgood dog\u201d.<\/p>\n
But today I discovered a new personality with my indoor plants. With them, I become God. When I water them, I\u2019ll often say \u201ctorrential downpour! Massive flooding! Monsoon season!\u201d Sometimes, if I\u2019m lazy, I\u2019ll walk by a wilting plant and whisper \u201cdrought\u201d if I don\u2019t feel like pulling out the watering can. I\u2019m quite sure that if the plant could understand me, they\u2019d think I was some sort of weather God since whatever I say happens. My personal favorite is to yell \u201ceclipse!\u201d and close the curtains. That one just cracks me up. I\u2019m not sure how long I\u2019ve been doing this but I must say I\u2019m rather surprised at my God complex. I mean, it\u2019s just not like to me to be such a dictator.<\/p>\n
Dang, I still can\u2019t say that with a straight face. Gotta run, I have an orchid that\u2019s going to be ending a 2 week drought with a light mist.<\/p>\n
